volver al paraíso-
las hojas que quito
This project explores the essence of jewellery and tells its story through the use of sacred symbols from the Bible. The leaf represents the first jewel in human history, as depicted in classical paintings of Adam and Eve
During the cave period, people would tie things they liked to their bodies as a way of keeping them. This demonstrates our desire to expand our physical and/or mental body. These objects exist separately from the physical self. The relationship between the material and the immaterial, the spiritual, is complex. I aimed to create jewellery that bridges the gap between body and adornment, imitating a world where anything is possible, like paradise.
This led me to transform the physical object and its properties: the copper leaf in the picture is protected and considered sacred and untouchable. The jewellery in the box is made from photocopies of the copper leaf and reworked with silicone. Silicone is a material often used in cosmetic surgery and beauty products. It allows for close contact with the skin, creating a second skin-like feeling.
