Obsesión
Obsesión is the diary of a young girl consumed by intense thoughts about a lover. Her feelings revolve around manic love and a deep urge to merge with the person of her desire. The visual and dramaturgical references include the work of cinematographers Oskar Fischinger and Diana Kunst. The emotions are expressed through lyrics from popular reggaeton songs, printed on fabric to transform sound into a visual and tactile object—a music video reimagined as a book.
The storytelling is distilled into the symbol of a circle, which changes in size and repetition, representing the shifting emotions in the girl's mind and body. The entire book is printed on velvet, which leaves marks when touched. The technique of sublimation allows for manipulation of the pressure and intensity of the print, playing an active role in the storytelling.
