Copy Station

-a showroom of fragility

Copy Station is born out of a desire to change and rethink how we relate to our clothes and our bodies. I believe that rethinking fashion and generating change in response to the sustainability problem we face requires a shift in the emotions connected to our garments.

The heart of the project lies in turning objects into images. It also mimics the unrealistic speed of fashion production. The garment is photocopied on the spot, leaving the original intact. The act of photocopying an object results in a transformation from 3D to 2D, which in turn makes the original more meaningful. At the same time, it references the trends that are formed in fashion.

These images are then processed and reworked with a layer of silicone. This creates a protective coating around the image while simultaneously transforming it into a material. The transparency of the silicone gives the piece an archival character, indicating that the image holds high value. The garment has been replaced by a symbol, allowing the code of communication to be preserved while resembling an artificial skin-like material.
